Greystone Lodge is situated roughly 1900m above sea-level. Dullstroom is one of the highest towns in South Africa and it has the highest train station in the country, sitting at 2076m above sea-level.
We experience varied weather fluctuations at the Lodge from cool misty mornings to sweltering hot afternoons and rainy evenings in the summer.
Our winters are generally cold and dry, however sometimes the afternoons can be so hot you’ll think it’s summer! Since 2022, our winters have been warmer and our summers much hotter than we’ve been used to.
In July 2023, we had the amazing experience of snow. It hadn’t snowed at Greystone since 2014 (way before our time!). See below for some pictures.
It is best to come prepared for all seasons.
The cold winter days and nights in Dullstroom are sought after for those log-fire loving guests. Lucky for you, we supply free firewood for your fireplace.
